Thinking of buying a new lawn tractor , have a old 127 that is getting real tired. I'm looking at a new one at tractor supply model 1046 which I don't think is unreasonably priced at $1799 need something that is user friendly so the WIFE can mow the lawn . She had the old one screwed up half the time last yr . Going to make a puller for the grandkids out of the 127 to get them started at tractor games.

I bought a 2180 about three years ago and have had good luck with it. I looked at the cheaper model, buty this one has the better hydro transmission and was not that much higher priced. I would stay afrom the ones at the big-box stores and go to a regular CC dealer. You can get better service, and they are not much higher than the other stores. I have not had many problems with mine, and it does a good job of mowing. Only problem I have had was the hour metyer did not work from the beginning (they reoplaced it), and the regulator quit last year( I think), as it does not charge.

I haven't tried one, but as mentioned below, I would bite the bullet and get one from the dealer. The dealer ones are heavier, stronger, and at least have a warranty that the dealer will honor. Otherwise, I would buy a cheaper, off-brand "throwaway" and hope it lasts.

I recently bought a GT2542 from my dealer. It is a shaft drive 20hp V twin (Kohler) 42" deck.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to use it 'cause it won't stop rainin' long enough for the grass to dry.

If you really want a 1046 go to the local cub dealer and have them match the price.
I know the cub dealer and they do the warranty work for TSC in our town.
Also they are set up properly when uncrated from shipping

I had been using an 1864,Kolar powered 54" cut, from my Dad's estate for about 8 years and it was getting real tired. I bought a 54" TSC Cub Cadet that was rated 2 horses more than the 1864 was rated when new. Price was right but little else. It mows ok but can't climb my hills and if you try to long the drive belt flies off which required dropping the deck to reinstall. It is just to light to deliver good service. Talk to your Cadet dealer and buy the heavier model. I ended up putting a new engine in the 1864 and of the two the 64 gets used a lot more. My nickel Dick Davis
