Ok guys I have asked lots of questions lately and they have helped. Today I started to takle my dads Super A.
It has a Dist. 4 postion switch, generator and cut out.
It has a very new looking wire harness. So I took the diagrams and made sure that the wires are all connected right. Put a new fuse in the switch. I did get the lights to work which they didn't before.
My amp meter shows discharge now when the kill switch is pulled out to run. When tractor is running 3/4 throtal I used a volt meter and tocuhed it to the A and F on the generator and it gives me 10.8 volts. But I get nothing at the amp meter. I grounded the feild on the gen to the tractor frame and nothing at the amp meter.
is that the correct wat to check the generator to see if it puts out a charge?
If I put a jumper from the gen terminal to the bat terminal on the cut out it shows a discharge.
I have done the basics and know enough that it is wired right. what could I be missing?
when the tractor is running with the top off the cut out I can push the tab down to make it spark.
