Rear light for H

Would a rear light from a 300 be "correct" enough for a '44 H? The one I found had a black knob on the top, and a red lamp inside.

If not, what "should" a '44 H have for the rear?

Hi Mike, I have a rear fender and light from a 300 utility on my H on the right side which is ok (mounts on the fender next to the seat, but the light is supposed to mount on the rear corner of the trans cover. I think some were avail with the red/white light and black switch and some had just the white work light. Have fun at Tulare if you go!

Mike, it is possible the one you found might be correct, but it most likely is for the six volt system, and you would need to change out the bulbs to make it work with 12 volts. I have a brand new rear light listed on my website if you want to look and compare.

The red/white light with black botton should not be correct "original" for a 1944 H. It would be a light assembly like one of the forward lights. The rear light was an option and during the War many came without. You might check if you have a wire clip on a left brake cover bolt and one on the left rear corner of the platform.
