154 Low Boy

Hey all. I"ve got a 154 Low Boy that I"m trying to get ready for mowing. The tractor has a 5 foot belly mower (I think it"s a Woods), but I can"t figure out how to route the belt. The deck has three spindles, one pulley on each outer spindle and three pulleys on the center spindle. I can get the belt on all the spindles, and get them all to turn the same direction, but the belt is twisted improperly, and after running for a few minutes it throws itself off. Does anyone have a diagram for how this belt runs?

Thanks

Mine comes off of the pto pulley, down to the two lower pulleys, then onto the main pulley. The "twist" is from the pto pulley to the two lower ones.(More like a half twist on each side) You use the two pulleys to tighten the belt. Sounds like its loose or the belt is worn out, or you have too long of a main belt.BTW, mine is the IH Danco mower, not a Woods.

Would you happen to have a picture of how yours runs? Sounds exactly like mine. I've tried tightening the belt as tight as it can go (4 foot prybar) and it makes no difference. I can take the belt off and put it on with the only twist being where it goes from horizontal to vertical for the two pulleys at the back, then it turns again to go over the PTO pulley. However, after running for a few minutes, it twists itself more, until it just rolls off a pulley.

Soon as the rain lets up a bit, Ill run out there and snap a shot or two for you. While Im waiting, what size belt are you running? When I got my 154, it had been sitting for about a yar, but had the orginal belts on the deck. I repalced them with what was on there, but even then, the drive belt was too long for some reason, so I got one and inch shorter and she runs liek a top now!

Blake, this isnt mine, but its the same thing. This is the 2 lower pulleys, and you can see how the twist going from the PTO pulley down to them. I guess I want think right, but the belt does twist going up to the main pulley on the deck.

Go to the Woods Website. All the manuals for their mowers are on line. You can pick out the one for your mower and download and print.

I just posted two pictures of mine:

You can see in the first one that the belt is twisted pretty badly going up to the PTO pulley, after running for just a few minutes the twist causes it to throw the belt. In that picture the right lower pulley is loose, because I'd just put the belt back on.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
