I went through the steering box on my dad"s 300 utility. Everything looks good but it still binds when trying to make a hard right turn. If I back off a little and try again it goes smoothly. It seems like the little "nub" on the steering arm is binding with the wormgear on the cam. I adjusted the cam shaft according to the shop manual (removed a shim) for the cam slack and adjusted the slack of the shafts coming out the sides. The box has no lub. in it now as the tractor is still apart in the garage. Any help will be very appreciated!!!!!

Using a dremel grinder, the track can be smoothed where the bindong starts. Do not be too agressive. Synthetic gear lube might make it last longer, and be easier. They do have issues. The expensive solution is to have it plasma sprayed to refill the wear, and polished out. But a replacement box from the source below might be an option. JimN
