I have been told that farmall made an industrial m tractor with a 6 cylinder truck motor. I have been searching and cannot find any evidence that farmall did. Does anyone know if farmall did this? Where should I look for information? Thanks...

Does not exist. All M's came through either with 4 cylinder gas or diesel engines. any 6 cylinder would have been a pure home made. The only other thing i could think of is after market engine that was designed for the M was a 3 cylinder Shepard Diesel.

Yeah it's possable. I think Schramm used a 6 cylinder and maybe a W6 rear end for some of their pnumatractors. But it really wouldn't be an M

Cowman - I'm sure you are aware the Schramm with the 6 cyl IHC block ran on only the front 3 cylinders - the rear 3 cylinders compressed air. Also the tractor part of the machine seemed less heavily built than an M or W6. Ie. definitely not a 6 cylinder M(!)

Incidentally those Pneumatractors looked (and sounded) kinda weird. But they worked well.

Now that would be a neat tractor, A W-6 with a 6 cylinder motor. If I had the W-6 with the side rails instead of the heavy cast bowl, I'd try it.
I wonder if there's any pics of this around.

Here's a shot of a diesel Schramm "Pneumadiesel" compressor spotted at a show a couple years ago. This one has a 6 cylinder IHC diesel engine - 3 cylinders diesel and 3 cylinders air compressor.

Note the relatively small rear end/rear wheels relative to a W6, etc. Appears the "tractor" portion was intended only to move the machine around on the jobsite and perhaps perform occasional light pulling chores.

While I cannot say with 100% certainty ([i:b541af18a5]anything[/i:b541af18a5] could have happened) I would wager whomever told you this tale had been smoking the wrong kind of mushroom. It would have required a much longer set of frame rails and hood, the likes of which I have never heard of.

I saw a W9 with a 6 cyl supercharged 2 stroke GMC deisel shoved into it once at an auction. The owner built it but did such a nice job of extending it some people were asking if it was an experimental or a factory job. The owner had been building larger tractors from regular ones for years by the time he created that one. Bet it would walk the dog!
