Free gas caps: lots of them

I ordered 2 and got 8. Later I bought three more tractors, so I ordered 3 more. Then they sent me nine. Some computer problems maybe?

I don't have any tractors that qualify. Oh well, I doubt they'd look right on a Regular or 10-20 anyway.

I think they are just getting rid of them. Offer was supposed to exspire over a year ago but they posted something like this on their web site....Because of large supply and LOW DEMAND offer is extended indefinetly. They must of bought one for every tractor ever made that qualified.

Dad got a new gas cap for our super c probably back in the 1980's, I think he was required to send them the old one in return. Is that still required?

No.

(quoted from post at 19:42:29 03/26/09) Hmm. I've requested one twice for my 300 Utility, and they've sent me zero.

That probably means someone already used your 300's serial number to request a cap. Maybe one of these fine gents who got a ton of extras will share for the cost of postage?

Yes, I'd thought of that. The least Navistar should do, though, is fire (no pun intended) off a short note to let me know.

I would think it would be in their best interest to send one anyway. If I send a request by registered mail, they ingore it, and then a fire occurrs, there will likely be a LARGE transfer of wealth from Navistar to my lawyers and myself or my survivors.

When I was talking to Brandon about this, he mentioned that there was a problem in production a couple years ago and a bunch of bad batches went out. They had to redesign how the retainer (?) fit. Anyways the new design has 3 dimples around the base of the new cap. So.. to keep in line with the previous policy in regards to the conditions of the settlement, they are re-issuing caps.

If you ordered a cap and got zero.. simply refile the request stating that you have never received a cap for your tractor and that you can prove ownership. They will send you a cap.

Brandon assured me of this when I talked to him before the changeover.

Ordered Friday, received to day (Wednesday)... not bad response. Have it and the warning sticker on the tractor.... I guess I'm now "legal".
