hi i brought in my head to be re done and it has one small crack that can be fixed needs new valves seats gieds the bill will come out to 820 and i have to find and buy the valves so is it worth it or should i find a new one i just dont know thanks

Does sound high, but not sure how much work they were allocating to that crack.

The labor to clean it up, magnaflux for cracks, mill surfaces [if required]and install new valves and guides shouldn't be over $2maybe300.

All new valves and guides might total $500 in parts though. Regardless, since you're looking at new valves anyway, you have no risk going with a different head [if it's guaranteed not to be cracked anyway], other than the clean-up and magnaflux you have in this one and you might even get good valves really giving you better value than your current situation.

Mine cost me $487 about 10 years ago and that included everything. I didn't have a crack, but all seats had to be replaced with inserts and that also included valves and springs which I got from Rice equipment. Now that price didn't include anything to do with the rockers or shaft either.
