C or Super C

Post a serial number if you can find it, or a casting code. You could look at the lights, if they are sealed beam it is a super, and if they are teardrop it is a c. But they may have been replaced at some point. A super would not have a fast hitch either.

jc: Most noticable is fuel tank in relation the touch control unit. On C the fuel tank is about 1/2" above touch control unit, SC the fuel tank is about 2-1/2" above touch control unit.

C will have band brakes, SC disc brakes. Pedals are quite straight on C, curved on SC. SC has a water pump C not from factory but water pump could be added. C block part number is 251069 R1, SC block part number is 354898 R1. Those can be changed also

If it has serial # tag on, the C has a 5 digit serial # and the SC has a 6 digit #. If no tag, then look at the clutch/brake pedals. The C`s are straight and the SC`s curve back toward the operator. The C has band brakes which have a sheet metal cover bolted on the outside of brake housing. The SC has disk brakes which have a cast iron brake housing.C has a 15" steering wheel and a SC has an 18" .You can put a 18" steering wheel on a straight C but it leaves very little room between the bottom of wheel and the seat. They changed the angle of the steering shaft on the SC to accomodate the larger wheel.

I wouldn`t go by if it had fast hitch because I` ve seen several C`s which had a fast hitch added-they`d bolt right on.

Some early 1951 SC's had the old style lights on them when new. My uncles has one he bought new with them on it.

Check the serial # they should match. Other things could have been changed over the yrs such as adding a Dist,Water Pumpbrakes and the list goes on. Casting codes should tell if serial # dont match.
