Farmall A rad can you swap?

I have a 1945 A with a bad rad. I have a 1940 A parts tractor with a good Rad. The new one uses spring loaded latches for the hood where the old one uses screws. Can I use the older one in my new model. I have the older one on it but have run it for 1 year with out the hood and grill thinking it would not work. am I off my rocker or will it bolt back up or can I make any modifications to make it work?

my parts book says the radiator, grill, hood, etc. all changed at serial 31330, but it does not say if they are backward compatible. since it does not say "will replace", I assume not.

The radiators are differeent even the top bracket that holds the radiator is different. J-hooks will not interchange with the 1/4 turn screws. If you change radiators you have to do all the brackets that go with it. Now even the gastank fittings are different where the hood attaches.
