Can anyone tell me where the power steering lines hook up to the tractor. I have a 350 utility. Also does anyone know if the system is open loop? Does the fluid always flow through the lines weather you are steering or not.
Thanks, Dyna

Left front of the hydraulic res. under the seat.
Two lines attach there. larger and smaller steel tubes on a flanged manifold. There must be a pressure diverter in the reservoir to provide pressure to the steering control valving just under the dash on the column. caseih.com search for parts will show the components. JimN

Are you saying the pressure line travels through the steering box before going to the hydraulic tank under the seat or am I wrong on that? I have a 350 without power steering. The lines from the pump go directly to the block under the seat. I put a Ford power steering box on the machine and would like to tap into the hydraulic system for pressure! I was thinking there are seperate ports from the hydraulic control block under the seat I could get the pressure and return hooked up to. Do you or anyone else have any answers.
Thanks, Dyna

I tried to say, but might not have been clear, that the lines are steel, they originate at the left front corner of the hydraulic reservoir under the seat. Coming out of the front of the casting. There are two lines, a pressure, and a return. They cross toward the front on the left, to the left of the battery in a similar way as the pump lines on the right go to the right of the battery. They then go up into the dash, and attach to the original valving in the steering shaft. Below the sheet metal of the dash. The diverter valve was internal to the reservoir to the best of my knowledge. The system requirs pressure to operate, so it needed a regulator/diverter/priority valve to assure that steering came first. It is possible to make that happen I assume, But yours might not have drilled and tapped holes, or a priority vavve in it. It might be expedient to use a belt driven pump on the front of the engine. I looked to the left (operators left) and didn't see any ports simular to the pressure and return on the right. I do have some plugged holes around the right side of the pressure and return, up toward the front of the hydraulic tank casting. I have been thinking of putting an additional power steering pump on the motor, you may be right on that one. I just thought I would give this a shot first. Thanks for the help
