Oil Change Frequency

Any knowledge on oil change frequency would be appreciated. I have 6 " collector " tractors that may get run an hour or two a year ( some not at all ). I also have a couple of old cars ( 58 and 63 ) that I drive about 200 miles a year at most. In addition my " driver " cars and pickup are driven about 1500 to 3000 miles per year . Most drives are at least 10 miles or longer. All cars and tractors are stored indoors in the Dallas area. Any input on frequency or mileage between changes is appreciated. In this economy I don't want to change more often than I need too. Thanks

You don't need to change it at all. It's not hurting me. But that being said, I just watch the color and "feel" of the oil. Some tractors that only get started once or twice in the summer go for years. Other tractors that see daily use in cold weather sometimes only go a few weeks. I'd say your cars ought to be changed once a year.

Well i have 5 or 6 tractors i use about 5 to 10 hours a year and i change them every two years. It depends on how dry they are in the barn. If they sweat a lot maybe they should be changed every year. You wouldnt need to change the filter every year. The oil doesnt cost that much. The cars i would change every year. Now thats just my opinion, Im sure other people will think other wise.

I'm guessing that you are just starting them and moving them off of a trailer to present them at a show or something. You need to run at least 10 minutes to dry out condensation in the block. Also you'll need to drive them around to take care of said problem in the tranny. You gotta use it. It will also keep the seals and gaskets from drying out.
