I just picked up a farmall AV i think..The tag reads FAAV #288484 Tractor has hydraulics for the front & rear cultivators..Does this make it a super AV because of the hydraulics? Any help would be great identifying this tractor..The side hood decals have been removed at some point in its time..Thank you for your help!

First Super A was 250001, yours is a 1950. Super A and Super AV serials are listed together.

"Tractor has hydraulics for the front & rear cultivators..Does this make it a super AV because of the hydraulics?"

Yes, I believe is the answer to your question. Too lazy to go upstairs and get my book, but I believe the Super A had touch control and the A did not.

Wow,thank you very much guys for the info on my tractor..Yes,i am proud to have a super AV..Thanks alot for identifing the year of 1950 also..Some of you guys really know your s*#@!!!! I was hoping it was an AV but was very surprised to find its a Super..Im undecided if i should restore it or leave it alone in its original paint..I picked it up pretty cheap including all the front & rear cultivators,1 garden plow, and drawbar..It also has ferltilizers on each side connected to the side housings?? I gotta try know to find the cans possibly on ebay or at a tractor yard..Anyone ever see the fertilizer containers around? I think its a fertilizer setup of some sort..The color is blue and there are black rubber tubes that runs down on each side..I would like to find a picture of someones Super AV with this same attachments so i can figure out what im missing i guess...Is there any AV attachment downloads out there on the web? Thanks again for helping me find out what year tractor and what model it is!

If a tractor has it's original paint, I keep it that way. Then I can use the tractor for what it was meant for. Tractors like to work. Just my opinion, but a tractor that is used part of the year will have fewer issues with starting and running properly. Check the photo archives here for pictures. Guy Fay has a book on letter series tractors with MANY hi-crop photos. It is a good investment along with operators and service manuals...which you must have. GL&GB!
