low oil pressure on guage. Removed oil pump found swirles on bottom plate. Milled plate smooth, reinstalled pump. Started tractor ,and had good oil pressure. After running about twenty minuits I shut it off. Later when I started it again ,I had low pressure again. The oil guage had been previously replaced. Has any had this problem and if so what was wrong.

Any idea what pressure it's supposed to run? If so, try a numbered gage instead and see where you're at.

Also if you know them, please post the numbers; I'm curious because my book notes -splash- for a 10-20 and 30-40psi on a F-12/14 though even on splash fed rods, the pump obviously has to have some appropriate pressure to feed everything.

they should run about 6 lbs. Cowman is right about the gauge not moving much if a modern higher pressure gauge is on it. Rice equipment has the right pressure calibrated gauges.

May be stating the obvious, but the F-12/14 have full-pressure lubrication, while 10-20 and all the tractors with similar engines have oil pumped to trays under the rods. Not much pressure needed. IH didn't even run a little pipe up to the valve rockers! I remember vividly having to squirt oil through those little caps atop the valve covers.
