300 water in oil

Hey Everyone

Picked up a 300 row crop with fast hitch this winter for 500 dollars. Figured it had that much in parts for my other farmall tractors. Spring is here, and started messing with it the other day....found a lot of water in the oil pan. Since then....put some used oil back in the tractor...filled the radiator....and spun the engine a few times. Everyday I open the drain slightly and a little bit of water/antifreeze runs out. Any ideas where it could be coming from? Dont know much about the tractor...but was told it did run last year pulling logs....

My 2nd thought....I have a 300 utility in poor shape...thought about using parts off the row crop to get the utility running...Hyd pump...and radiator...are they the same? What parts wont interchange between the two.

Thanks

Since these engines are sleeved, you may be getting leakage around one of the sleeve seals. You will have to pull the oil pan and head to see if there is another crack. The other option is a head gasket problem. FYI, we had a 200 that leaked water into the oil for 20 years before my dad finally had it resleeved. It turns the oil a milky gray color and steam comes out the filler port when hot. New sleeves, pistons, and a head rebuild should cost less than $1000.00.

300's are dry sleeved, the smaller 113 & 123 engines are wet sleeved, whole different deal. You are probably looking at a bad head gasket, a cracked head or a cracked block. Pull the pan 1st, see where the seep is coming from. That'll give you an idea of where to start. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

My guess would be a cracked head near one of the exhaust valve seats. Have seen these heads crack there before. The sleeves are dry, so leaking sleeve seals are not a possibility.

This is from left field, so don't get up-set. O'Reillys has three or four different products to seal leaks. Some claim to be able to fix cracked heads or blocks. From $10 to $40 if I recall correctly. NAPA has a sealer for $1.59 that is in a small plactic container about the size of a roll of nickels.
I would retorque the head bolts then try the NAPA product first. Afterall you got it cheap enough that you can afford to try a cheap fix.
