i have a 140 farmall that has a cracked block that needs to be replaced.the numbers i found are C123 14315 5-19-A 354898R3. WHAT YEAR IS THIS? was this block used many years?

5-19-A = May 19, 1955.

From a quick 'net search, it appears casting # 354898R3 was used for quite a few years.

Part number 354898 R3 was not listed in your reply (March 22, 12:43) to post titled "113 CI Engine" below.
So could you shed some light on it?

i am pretty sure this is a newer model tractor maybe 70s.i think i read somewhere that the alphabets in the casting dates started over somewhere in the 70s.
i found a replacement block for 500.00 is this in line or should i just buy a short block..thanks

They started over in 1955 with A, Bob answered the question, don't think R3 blocks made it out of the fifties. If it has a serial # that may help.

That would be the tractor serial #, maybe a 100 or 200. Didn't notice before you may have already posted engine serial # 14315.
