new rebuild startup

Oil pressure question on super c "c-123" I have recently started up my new engine, Crank reground, all new bearings, pistons, rings , liners and machine shop head overhaul. I was a little disaspointed in the oil pressure. Just looking for advice ! with 10w30 oil at 65 degree ambient temperture I was getting 45 pounds cold and about 20-25 hot. Does this seem normal to you all ?

That isn't bad with 10-30. Some times detailing the oilpump with .001 or less end clearance, and a flattened end cap can help a lot. JimN

I forgot to mention ! that I also had the mahine shop mill the oil pump end plate flat again as it was badly warped, What oil would you recomend to bring psi up ?

I don't think that's all that bad. These engines really never had a ton or pressure.

If you want higher pressure you could go with a straight 30w or 40w if it's warm out (40w in the cold can be a bit much).

Straight 30 wt oil if your're going to work the tractor. Even 30wt will get thin when working it hard. Hal

I owned a straight C a few years back and that tractor purred like a kitten with around 20 psi at startup and a little less than 10 when it got hot. Ran it and ran it with no issues. For what it's worth.
