Have a IH 756 gas and the exhaust manifold has a crack. Took apart and the intake manifold does not look the best either. Is this common to have to change both manifolds? What is the correct method of re-tighting the bolts?? Any input would be appreciated!! Thanks!

Normally the intake manifold is ok except for broken off studs getting them apart and the heat riser will have to be cleaned and repaired. Whole assembly must fit square on head to avoid leaks and cracking, probably require machining. When you tighten assembly to head you snug down the four bolts that hold manifolds together if you had them apart and then tighten manifold to head partly and evenly and then loosen and tighten the 4 bolts again, in other words , pull entire manifold into place without strain on any one particular part of it. New exhaust manifolds are avilable at many different places, intake is harder to locate. I have seen new ones advertised lately but don't recall where it was.
