clutch replacement

I have a Farmall super A and purchased a clutch from an individual that repairs Farmall tractors in my city. The clutch that I purchased wasn't the identical one that was in the tractor. Does anyone know if you have to have the same clutch that's in the tractor or will another clutch interchange?

A, Super A, B, C, Super C, 100, 130, 140, 200, 230, 240, 404 are all the same. 9" clutch

this is the same question you asked the other day, these are the ones it will fit. if its not the identical one, in spline size and diameter it will not work.

There was at least two different styles or brands of clutchs that were installed when the tractor was built. Auburn was one, and Rockford was another one. Your tractor may currently have the Auburn clutch, and the new clutch you bought might be a Rockford. The two do not have identical appearances, but that makes no difference. The only two things that DO matter is the diameter of the clutch, and the diameter and spline count of the inner hub. If both of those are the same on each clutch disc, you're good to go. If those are NOT the same, you need to take it back.

If the disk fits on the transmission input shaft, and the pressure plate bolts to the flywheel, it will work.

I will just add a word of caution here. I recently rebuilt a Farmall B that had the auburn clutch. I ordered a rebuilt clutch disk and pressure plate. It was a rockford & it all bolted up just fine. After I had the tractor running , the clutch wouldn't work & I had to split it & replace the rockford with an auburn. There was something different about the throw out bearing. The parts man could get the right bearing but not the sleeve it is pressed on. So I had to go back to what was in it origanally.
