806 parking awl

I've changed this thing a long time ago in my 806 by taking off the top of the transmission. I can't remember a lot about where it was located.

I have the park out of it again. Is there a way to get to it through a side panel and not take off the floor platform?

Appreciate any input.

Thanks a lot.

The only way to get to the park lock is thru the top. Case IH makes a kit to put the spring on the inside, good thing to install if you have it apart.

Thanks a lot for the information Bill. What is purpose of the spring kit you've mentioned. Does that keep the awl engaged better and less likely to strip?

It forces the lever and Pawl into position. The problem with the non-sprung ones is not the mechanism, it's the operator (no offense intended here, especially since I'm guilty of this myself). You need to be VERY careful about setting the park lock with the older non-sprung style, or it will strip out. You can just slap the lever down with the spring-loaded version and it will automatically lock itself.

That's sounds like the thing to do with this. I don't wreck it very often, but it's been a couple of times.

It probably is the operator in my case. I would usually just pop the lever down = guilty.

Thanks a lot to the both of you.
