300 Starter Problem

I'm finally getting back to my 300. I had an unfortunate thing happen to me. My dad was trying some things suggested to him. One of which was to try a 12v battery to start with, he was not aware that the 6v electronic ignition could not handle the 12v and now it does not work. Now I need a new ignition as well. Needing to add the ignition, I think I'm going to give up on 6v and go to 12. Any suggestions out there for me?

Going to the 12-volt (negative ground) electronic ignition with an alternator per the earlier post will give your 300 a reliability boost. I had the same trouble with a '51 H that wasn't used very often. Starting and charging are both better now.
