am in the process of replacing the pivot pin bushings on the front axle. I&T book says they should be reamed after installation if necessary. I'd say it's necessary since the pivot pin won't fit through the new bushings. got myself a 1.245" reamer and gave it a try. expected it would self-center and sail right through something as soft as that brass(bronze?) bushing. nope- it took all the material down to the steel backing on one side and left the other side about the same. i think i just ruined a new bushing. first time i've used a reamer- what am i doing wrong? is this something i need to take to the machine shop to put on a milling machine? seems like it should be pretty simple, not rocket science- just need to make the hole a little bigger so the pin will fit. any help please.
