Good news our FFA super M is running however when we installed the belly pump for our hyd. oil resivoir the clutch is ticking the casting numbers on pump face . going to try and grind them of has new clutch assymbly what gives?

Don"t know if this is your problem or not, but when IH was getting ready to install 12 inch clutches in SM and late M tractors they changed the reservoir casting to give more clearance. If you installed a common M one that could be the problem. Off the top of my head the casting # for a late one ends with a E as the last letter.

D Slater is correct. If grinding will let it clear W/O compromising it reservoir's integrity, Do it. The Other solution is to leave the Pump out, and Put on Live Hydro. But that takes the effort and a donation or money. Great job, and congratulations on the result. Wish the students well for their effort, From YTMAG as a job that will serve them for their entire lives. JimN

Thanks for the help. We have the correct pump tractor has live hyd. just using it to hold the oil. Going to try and grind on it tommorrow . We get it fixed it will be ready for the paint. Tractor was burnt in a fire and sat for 5 years in a pasture. The correction police will be all over us but due to a tight budget we had to use what we could find to get it back together . In all there are parts from 15 other tractors on it . Quite a challenge but we learned a lot. Jerry

Had the same thing happen a few years ago There are 2 different pressure plates used in super M's if you get the wrong one it will tick on the pump
