| Matt at the price of the Cummins I could just as well scrap the JCB. If I can keep the darn thing going for 2 more years I'll trade it.

| 270 leyland tractor uses a 3.8L engine, they're everywhere and quite reasonable, with a little forthought you couls easily adapt a cummins B3.6 turbo in there too. |

| Thanks AJ. Mine is shuttle shift. I will have to cheak that out. Getting parts here in the US isn't easy. I may have to order from the UK. That's why I was asking about a bolt in replacement. If I'm going to keep it I would like to have a local parts source. My nearest JCB dealer is 130 miles one way.
Thanks again.

| I'm in the UK and there are plenty of spares for those engines, those were great engines good starters and reliable, they have wet liners so an in frame overhaul is not a problem as long as your crank is OK, what is wrong with yours, the engine that replaced that after JCB could not rely on a supply from Leyland due to strikes etc was the Perkins 4.236 but it was never used in a manual drive machine so I am not sure if it would marry up to the bell housing of the 3C,maybe a call to your local engine reconditioner may help out with an overhaul kit,it's a Leyland 4/98 3.8Lt.
