The D17 gas engine was used when the D17 tractor was introduced and the same diesel engine as the WD45D and D17D engines were used in the DD models. In 1964 the tubular frame was superseded by a box frame. In 1971 the D and DD graders were superseded by the Allis Chalmers M65 which then became the FA65 when the Fiat-Allis joint venture was formed. The latest version of this popular compact grader is the NorAm 65E.
Also post your request on the popular Allis sites. Recently there was a post selling a power steering unit for a D grader.

There's a 1955 Model D for $8950.00 in Minnisota. It's on Machinerytrader.com. Looks clean/diesel for it's age. Good Luck.

The Model D graders were built from 1949 to 1965, using the WD/WD45 engine. The Model DD (Diesel) were built from 1954 to 1965.

These are sometimes hard to find as landscapers usually pay premium prices for them as they are more suited for landscape work than large graders.

Recommend that you check with dealers in the upper midwest. I remember seeing some in Billings in the early 70's that might still be running.

Sounds like a model D, but I think they were in the 50's. Ran one many years ago at work, nice little grader.
