The AVGAS will make the biggest difference, but you will need to clean out all the ethanol residue first.

Autolite 386 or a 387 if a hotter plug is needed. Also the NGK A6 works well. Avoid ChampionsNeeds to be a non-resister type plug and use with solid wire core ignition wires.

the NGK A6 plugs are too large to fit in my D2 pony I am told i have the newer heads which has a smaller plug in the middle rather than the older heads with the plug at the top. What would be the equivalent NGK plug?? Thanks

Champion plugs are not well thought of. It is real common for carb to get plugged up, dependent on filter bowl to clean gas. I like to put a tube in filter inlet with fuel screen so sediment cant get in carb. Not much fall from tank to carb. Usually you can take top off carb in place to clean.
