Just picked up a Walden 5000 loader with 4B3.9 engine and am trying to get it started. Bleeding the injection system and do not get any fuel to the injectors. Hand pump pushes fuel out all the bleeding taps, but nothing out the lines. We have spun it over with the starter and still no fuel. Is their anything else to do before taking it to the repair shop? Thanks in advance.
Jo

I do not know what the thread could be but nearly all pipe fittings in the UK are BSP,if you have a Case dealer near you the Case # for that fitting is J904643,one from a Perkins would be the same.

In both cases above a stuck injector needle valve could be the cause,if an injector needle valve is stuck in the delivery position it will allow compression to pass out through the injector and into the injector pump causing an air lock in the delivery head of the pump,(you can't do this test if the pump is off the engine)see if you have an injector blowing back, undo the injector pipes at the injectors, put a squirt of oil into each nipple of the injector, protect your face, get someone to crank the engine over on the starter while you watch the injectors,if one blows back that is the trouble,if none blows back the trouble is in the pump, often with a Lucas CAV pump the metering valve can stick in the stop position, the newer pumps with the electric stop usually had a manual lever stop in front of the throttle lever on the top cover of the pump so the engine could be stopped manually,it does not have a cable attached, check it out,if the pump is off do not turn the engine till it's back on again and timed.

AJ Item no. 10 do you know what threads are on the male part that screws in to the pump? Almost 1/8 NF pipe but I am not certain. Pump shop kept my fitting and I am having trouble finding the fitting.

What ever you do please post your results. We have a older cummins with the old style pump and it was running rough , removed the injector pump sent it to shop, complete rebuild now it just like yours, fuel thru all the bleeds and lines but no injection pressure .

some pumps had a shaft that would shear if head/rotor tried to seize--might not be turning--

mite-help thanks for the reply.
Spent another 4 hr's on checking every thing out and finally pulled it off. The shaft is turning and every thing seems okay. It's got me stumped so it's off to the repair shop on Monday .

If your machine has a cable to kill engine, try pulling it out to get machine to run.I've run across several machines with that setup.David Brown as an example.

Ben, pump has an electric solenoid that seems to be working, but pulled the spring and needle and still not getting fuel. Thanks for the reply. Jo
