Hey all, my 1964 MF 470 wheel loader has painfully slow hydraulics. They aren"t weak at all and when working the forks, bucket with dirt gravel etc...it"s alright I guess. It"s slow but you can"t really throw material around with this little loader anyhow. Snow is another story, snow is light and this machine moves it perfectly however the bucket actions are painfully slow. I have to put the machine in neutral and rev the motor a bit and wait while dumping snow out of the bucket. It shouldn"t be that slow should it? I never really liked plowing with it on account of the slow bucket cycle with snow, but don"t notice the cycle time too much with other material. Is it the pump or am I using too heavy a weight of hydraulic oil or what? |

I would look for a restriction maybe a steel line up the loader arms has gotten smashed or someone damaged a rubber line when crimping on the end.

If it's slow dumping the bucket, it's not a worn out pump. I think you have a return restriction. Is there a power beyond setup with hoses to a remote valve? If so worn quick connectors will not open fully at times and that will slow you down. Later Bob

Might also have a cyl, with an internal leak, or bent and binding.

Maybe you have a bad hose or something is restricting flow. That's an industrial loader and should have pretty fast hydraulics.

Have you put a pressure guage on the line from your pump to the control valve to see what your pump pressure is? Next, do the same between the control valve & the bucket cylinders. This would let you know if your pump is bad or if the pressure relief on your control valve is set too low. I'm NOT a hydraulics "expert" but those would be the first things I would check if it were my machine.
