If it's a straight 410, you pull the plate that the shifters come up thru.. Look down there and you might find a piece of metal missing on the end of one of the shift shafts that push or pull the shift forks..It's very common.. I just fish out the pieces and fabricate another piece , then weld it to the shift shaft.. Outerwise the correct repair is to split the tractor behind the reverser and change out the shift shaft..Quite a little undertaking if you don't have to..I've done this about half a dozen times with good results..With that piece missing , you can't move the shaft to get it into low range.There are "interlocks" on those shafts so it can't do 2 different gears at the same time.. If that doesn't work you may have to take the top off the transmission and try moving the rail. [Reply]  [No Email]
