I think draining the pond may be counter productive; once the water is gone the machine may sink lower down into the mud as it will be heavier without the buoyancy of the water around it. The tracks may not be as deep into the muck as you would think. I would try to hook on and pull it out first. Then if that fails drain the pond and dig around it and pull. But I may be wrong here is my math. 50,000 lbf dozer at 490lbf per/cubic foot of steel means 102 cubic feet of steel. 1 cubic foot of water weighs 62 lbf . So the 102 cubic feet of water the dozer displaces would only give it 6324 lbf of bouncy. That is not that much compared to the weight of the machine. And that is assuming it is totally under (which it is not). Let us know how it works out. [Reply]   [No Email]
