Sadly an old friend of my mine passed away two years ago, he had been a Cat engineer his whole career, and spent many years at the proving grounds. He was on the team that built the first D 9. I did drive a D9 w/dozer. Not a bit of "seat of the pants feel" that I'm used to driving smaller crawlers. It was late in the afternoon and the layout was pretty shaded out by the time we went in to eat and dark when we came back outside. [Reply]  [No Email]

In my research I found it was closed up in 1990, two years before I was born. I'd try local historical entities, but to my knowledge, because of how remote it was in its heydays, I just don't know which to try or if they have anything any how. And of course, it doesn't help that I weighted until I'm a student at the U of A in Tucson to try to look, as apposed to when I was in high school in the area. [Reply]  [No Email]
