I know this happens but is'nt to common. I removed the casting that contains the front axle pivot bushings on the 870 today. After getting the 40 yrs. of crud removed I was surprised to see the eagle in the casting of a 70 series part. When installed on the tractor it is no longer visible. |

My good friend Harry Kline from Racine was real sneeky about putting them some place on the later tractors. He was very proud of OLD ABE and wouldn't let the eagel die. I would see Harry at the Farm Progress Show And he would show me where he had put OLD ABE in the castings. Every time I see an eagel I think of Harry.

Rod do you have a machine shop make bushings for those castings?

Yes, if the casting is worn as this one they will bore it out and make a solid bushing the size of the pin.

We had to take the radiator out of the 3394, and there was Old Abe! What a surprize.

On the 2096, under the radiator, on top of the axle support casting, they put Old Abe, about 8" tall. On the Magnums, for quite a while, in back of the engine, on top of the forward part of the Tranny housing, Old Abe stands proud.
