What Model in reply to bill koob, 02-26-2013 18:40:38   Back in the 70's I had a little 4 acre piece of alfalfa to turn over and I couldn't get the job done with my Massey. Good friend/neighbor of mine said come and grab my 970 and get er done. Now this little field was the stickiest, nastiest piece on the farm. his 970 was a gas with power shift and a 4-16 Oliver plow, it only had about 500 hrs on it at the time, he bought it new. He says I'll have it full of gas and just fill it up before you return it, it took about 3 hours to plow that little piece, it was dry and at times it would stop and spin the land wheel, steep hill on the back side, would spin, work the 3pt lever some and get er to pick the front and go again, you get the picture, tough going. Anyway it took 55 gallons of fuel to plow that little piece, the next year he traded it on a brand new 2090, he still has it. [Reply]  [No Email]

In the spring, after the Uncle finished plowing with it, about 5hrs, per tank full, I would start out at about 7:00 in the morning with It hooked to an SA 12' disc or a 18' drag. Had to return to the gas pump about noon. Refueled myself and the LA and headed back. At 5:00 went back, to refuel again, and return to the field. It was really nifty running the old girl at night. The glow from the manifold and muffler was almost as bright as the 6V lights. I was in my glory at 10 years old driving it. The fuel tank on an LA holds 28.3 Gals. Loren [Reply]  [No Email]

It burns about 5 gals per hr underload. has just over 1200 actual hrs. Runs Great Looks Great, love to operate it. Fuel Man Loves it too!!! [Reply]  [No Email]

The LA used approx 5 gals/hr. and the 500 or 600 use less than 1/2 of that. Don [Reply]  [No Email]

It burns approx on half gallon every 300 feet. About 120 hp. I would think a stock 830 gas would be one of the higher users of gasoline per horsepower. What Model in reply to j hikemper, 02-26-2013 11:54:55   I've got a 930 propane that's no slouch on fuel. Planting corn, nice tractor to use, but it took almost 65 gallons to plant 50 acres. Price was $1.40 a gallon for the propane. 1170 diesel would have probably used 8-10 gallons of diesel. [Reply]  [No Email]
