The M&W kits are scarce and didn't do much for a 9 or1030. M&W didn't adress cool air intake issues and the 30 series tractors did not have cross flow head design. There are guys out there with them, but they know the limitations. Loren |

| I agree Loren my cousin bought a 1030 a about 5 years ago we put a turbo on it really made no more power than before the tractor turned out nice, but he let it go a Mecumm Auction be careful there needed the money only got $6000 and we believe they bought it because no bidders all of a sudden SOLD before you new what was happening. |

| Those engines CAN be made to perform with a M&W turbo setup, however there is a price. I have done 830s and 95 HP can be done in the 4 cyl engine at 540 pto on dyno. Their timing must be advanced one tooth on the pump gear and then the fuel and max rpms reset. The timing must be advanced to 35 DEG BTDC and then the tractor becomes hard to start even at moderate temps.
The 830 is just a 4 cyl version of the 1030 and it would be fun to do the timing bit n see what happens. I have installed M&W turbos and designed my own and with similar results, None of the ones I have done have had any head cracking and have been running 20- 30 yrs at least. |
