The gear shift on that tractor is much different than the shifter on my uncle's 1968 930 tractor (8 speed). Did Case build six speed 930's with the Comfort King platform, or is that just an early style of shifter?

64 Western Special 930 was the first Comfort King, fuel tank behind seat. Actually built in 63 for the 64 model year. Same six speed as previous 930 long nose and 900.

my guess is they moved the muffler foward to get heat away from the driver. also never seen any shields like that. must be to keep hot air off of driver. any one notice the tool box ? looks like one off of an old dc even has seriel # plate.

Got what my seem like a stupid question. What is the extra hole in the hood for? Was this a repurposed hood?

Jim

Manifold was changed. From about 65 on the exhaust exited between cylinders 1 and 2 where previous ones exited between 3 and 4. On early manifolds the center connector seemed to rot away and the fix would be to put a later manifold in its place, but you would need to make a new hole in the hood.

I'm going to guess that the hood was changed, or the manifold was changed, but something looks wierd for sure.
