Had to order a complete crank assy. The later engines had a two gear balancer in them and the gear was bolted to the crank with taper head internal hex capscrews. A real good machine shop, with a lot of "know how" may be able to reweld it to the crank. If there is worn or chipped teeth, it might be posible to reposition it like some people do with starter ringears, BUT said machine shop will have to have the gear teeth precisely timed, before rewelding, and then rebalance the crank after welding, and then there is always the lingering the issue of worn teeth, and heat stress. As you saw, when you posted about needing a rod, there is a lot more variables than one would think in a 336 Case engine. You can eliminate the 3 gear balancer, and mount an oil pump out of a 6cyl engine on a proper sized 6cyl front main bearing cap, (big journal/little journal) but again this is a machineshop operation, and requires proper shimes to space the pump drive gear from the crank drive gear and an oil feed line from the new pump to the block where the balancer pump fed the block. Case Nutty 1660 01-12-2013 17:42:26 75.127.24.27 Report to Moderator	Re: need a balancing gear for 336 crankshaft in reply to 1370rod, 01-12-2013 16:27:44   Rod, this is just a guess but I ran several W-14 loaders and they seem to rap faster than the big crank 870's do also they turned them higher RPM's so less rotating mass at those higher speeds may turn out more HP, less torque but with the turbo and or like in the W-14 a torque converter those industrial engines do not need extra torque and may just work better with the small journals ,,, make any sence to you? just me thinking [Reply]  [No Email]
