I have an 800 bought not running it is a diesel I put an 830 injection pump on it and been completely through engine. My question is how do these tractors sound, this one reminds me a little bit like a 2 JD cylinder at idle, rev up still kind of hear it, wide open and loaded it sounds ok and runs fine, is this how these old diesel sound or do I have a problem? I did also turn fuel screw back as far as I could, still smokes plenty. Thanks for any help |

I would make sure the compression release isn't hanging up. I only gave $400 for mine 5 years ago, and at an idle, it blows white smoke, and misses something terrible. I need to check the valves, but for no more money then I have in it, I'm not messing with it too much. Once its warm, I think it will out pull my 830, at least traction wise.

When everything is right, she should click 'em off like a sewing machine. If it sounds like a 2 banger, and you are sure of the adjustments, my next step would be a compression check.

no they should not sound like a two banger JD, my guess is you have the timeing wrong or the pump is not working as it should and or maybe the valves not set right? the 267 dsl should run smooth hope this helps cnt

Been Through the timing and valves twice all checks out ok, also I tried the injection line crack to isolate the miss each line made a definate change. Only ? would be operation of pump. Also noticed the rain flapper it never bounces like its missing just has the stranger flutter sound in the exhuast

Make sure the rocker arms are not in contact with the compression release system.
