JPB 1070 12-22-2012 19:56:20 68.52.92.23 Report to Moderator	I have a 1974 1070 case. I pulled the crank out to replace bearings before we built the engine. And i noticed the crank is not counter Weighted. Is that normal for these engine. I would think it would make them weak. I have a 504 turbo engine out of a 2290, would that crank be better suited to last longer under a high horsepower machine? Thanks Guys [Reply]   [No Email]

The large journal crank will not fit in those blocks. These are found in 1370, 2390 and larger tractors. Rod.   [Reply]  [No Email]

Our local machine shop sends them someplace,where i don't know. They comeback looking like new. In past years I had this done to 3, after a couple hundred hrs everyone broke in the crank throw next to the repaired journal. Ever since, about 20 yr ago, when I get a crank damaged like that they go in the junk. I hate like hell to do that but I can't afford to redo them. I just tossed out one out of a 1070, nice looking crank but one damaged journal, I have no other choice, Rod.   [Reply]  [No Email]

Crank welders can do a beautiful job at rebuilding the journal but getting the tempering back to new is imposssible for the average rebuilder. There are various methods but with mixed sucess.
