Poll what type of head gasket sealant do you useSince they’re so many professional mechanics on this form, I thought I would ask this question just for fun to see what is used. What type of Head gasket sealer do you use when you work on a Head? |

| Hylamar, Copper coat, or Indian Head gasket sealer. Depends of why I am using it. I have never seen a head walk on a block if sealer is used. I have taken engines appart where no sealer was used and the head gaskets were warn 1/16" into the block. If they start moving they can make a big mess in a hurry. |

| I use some copper silicone around the pushrod galleys on a C-D-L, they have poor clamping on that side and will weep oil, otherwise usually nothing, a little copper coat is ok if there is fears of the water passages not sealing, some use aluminum spray paint, hylomar is another product |

| I use copper coat especially on the smaller 4 lungers where the push rod tube area likes to leak. |

| | None and lots of it. Actually I have used the spray-on copper coat on one lungers when I just pop the head to take a peek and reuse the gasket. Joe |
