I also have a 680H backhoe and the whole machine operates on 24 Volt. I suggest you try to keep everything original if you can. You would not have enough amps to the starter if you feed it 12 volts although if you really want to change it to 12 volts you can probably get such a starter if you check around. The downside with 24 volt is the cost of bulbs etc. I've had mine for 14 years and it's been a very good unit with little downtime. It's a bit thirsty on fuel but it will do a lot of work too. |

| Another issues I'm having with it, is when I got it, it ran good, but as soon as I put 5gal of diesel in it, it wanted to start running rough and wanting to die out. I knew the previous owner of the backhoe, and when he put fuel in it, it did the same thing. He changed fuel filters and it never did it again. |
