Agri King 11-12-2012 18:15:29 216.222.183.148 Report to Moderator	Rod, Funny you should post, I pitched a 970 crank yesterday (after walking buy it for 1-1/2 yrs. It measured fine, but had been welded on the #1 rod many years ago. There was a crack from the oil passage outwards. My machine shop tells me welded cranks SHOULD be fine in non turboed engines, I have been to gun shy to try it. [Reply]   [No Email]

When I had the crank stroked for my CC puller Jack Golder built up the main journals to standard as well as adding an inch of stroke to the rods. It has ran since 2008 at 12.5:1 compression but thats a big difference from running all day in a dsl. I guess I would grease it up and keep it but would look for a good grindeable used one, be sure to look at the radius area for wear. [Reply]  [No Email]
