I've a pair of diesel 400s with radiator shutters. Neither has the control cable. With colder weather showing up I'd like to make these usable. The cable must have a twist type of lock to hold the shutters in position, right? Without that the springs would just return the shutters to open. I've seen plenty with shutters, but no control cable. Thanks |

| I discovered today that unless you use the original spring it will suck the shutters closed and they won't open back up. I was having problems with slack in the cable and them not closing all the way. I thought a lighter spring was the answer to get them to close all the way. Guess not.
Sorry about that. |

| I bought a replacement through the local auto parts store. I have a name and part number but I'm not sure I'm allowed to post it here. I painted the knob black and had to make a bushing for the bracket under the dash. I did have to put a lighter spring on the shutter assembly because I couldn't pull them all the way closed. You will also need a collar with a set screw to attach the control wire to the shutter assembly. |
