Decided to switch my 990 DB from power assist (finger breaker) to full hydrostatic steering yesterday. Gotta do it so I can mount the loader. Thought it would be fairly easy since the parts came off the donor tractor easy enough. Holy smokes! Was I wrong. Everything is just a bit different. Took 2 hours just to get the lines bent and stretched enough to reach from the PS pump to the steering gear. Spent a good hour figuring out the drive gears on the pump aren't the same size between years. I got it pretty well mounted but I still have a good half day left. Much of that will be figuring the wiring out since I can't get the nut on the throttle lever loose for nuthin'! Heated it till the nylon ran out of the lock and still won't budge so I'm using the whole dash from the donor. The wiring in both rigs was a mess to start with too. 13 hours of solid work with no breaks isn't my idea of an "easy swap"!
