Hi, Im looking at a Case 530 Trip Range w/gas engine model 541. The owner said the 3 point lift doesn"t work. He stated it needs to be split and a gasket/seal needs replacing? He said his brother used to drain the fluid out of the front and fill the rear reservoir or visa versa to allow it to work for a little while. Anyone know if this sound correct and what it would take to repair? Thanks Kurt |

| The ring on the piston that raises the 3 point went out on my 530. This caused the hydraulic fluid from the front reservoir to fill up the rear when ever the 3 point was used. It was pretty simple to fix this. The sill between the two reservoirs has been know to leak. You would have to split the tractor to repair this, but I wouldn't think it would cause the 3 point not to work. If it is the sill than I would think the fluid level in both reservoirs would be equal. |

| | Kurt It's actually an easy repair. The three-point arms need to be removed slid off of the splined rocker arm shaft. Do this by removing the end caps that are held in place by a single 5/16 bolt. Next, disconnect the hydraulic fitting at the front, right corner, or front. center (depends on model) of the top plate. Then remove the seat base (four 3/8" bolts), and finally lift the top plate off (which contains the 3-pt rock shaft) of the the rear end. Once the top plate off, and turned upside down, disassemble the piston, lever assembly by sliding the rocker shaft out one side (it will only go one direction). The piston arm and piston can then be removed. The wiper and seal for the later model piston are both still available from Case. The top place gasket is also available from Case. If, by chance, you have one of the many earlier style pistons finding the correct wiper and/or seal might be a little more challenging. You should have the top plate off and piston dissembled in less than 1/2 hour. You'll need to get the piston apart before ordering parts to ensure your get the correct seal/wipers. If not for that issue the whole job, from start to re-assembly, would take less than an hour. You can man-handle the top plate, but having a lift, or cherry picker makes the job a little easier on your back. Have fun. - Joe |

| On the early ones I have used water well pump cup leathers. Been in there 5 or 6 years now. |
