Good morning, I'm new to the forum.

We have had a 730 Case Tractor for about 15 years, its been sitting for about the last 2 or 3. Rarely used.

We want to fix up all the issues and start using the tractor around the yard more.

I have a few questions:

-Where can I find out the fluid capacities for the tractor?

-Filter part numbers?

-Also the brake to stop one back tire at a time does not work. When you push one side of the pedal, both sides move. (The pin locking them together is not locked so they should move separately.) Any ideas on what to look for?

Thanks

Steve

Would no tach also cause the hours meter to not work as well?

Thanks

edit: Also there is a knob in the circled region under the steering wheel pictured here (camera is dead so I just found a pic on the net thats close)

It says turn to lock, I followed the cable back to the left side of the tractor but it is just loose there. Any idea what it is?

Thanks

The tachs are mecanical. On a gasser the drive is located below the distributor. On a diesel it's probably coming off the inj. pump somewhere.

not sure what 730 you have this chart is for a "CK" or the tractors with regular 3pt hitch the earlier tractors hold another gallon or so in the transmission, when/if you go to your local dealer to order a ops book you will need the serial # to get the correct book as they have several according to serial and gas or dsl cnt

Hey 86, as for capacities and filters, you can still get operators manuals from Case, they should list capacities. Also IT Shop manuals will have that as well.

Filters can be had from a local CaseIH dealer or from NAPA. Just give the model number at NAPA, that is all I do. Good luck and post a picture!

The brake pedal part is easy, this happened on my 400 when it sat. The right pedal should turn on the shaft and the left should turn the shaft. Your right has siezed on the shaft so both pedals move together. I was able to work mine loose by just holding one and working the other. You may need heat. Once you get it loose you should remove the right pedal and clean up the shaft and pedal. There should be a grease zerk on there so with a little lube you shouldn't have any more trouble.

On the right pedal removal, do I take off that whole plate on the side?

Thanks

The pedal is on a shaft in front of the brakes. The shaft goes through the trany housing I think. It has both brake pedals on the right side and the left brake lever and the clutch pedal (unless it's a com) on the left. I think if you only want to remove the right pedal you can do it by just removing the adjustment nut for the brake and tipping the pedal down til it can come off. If it won't tip down that far you can just pull the brake cover and the outer brake disc and the actuator will come out with the pedal. That way you can also inspect the discs for wear.
