Working on a 1930 Case L. That radiator had a leak near the right front top, probably the gasket for the top tank was bad. Got a second radiator which was dry (I don't know what condition it was in the last time it saw water). Took the top tanks, bottom tanks, and side pieces off both. The 1930 top tank had 4 bolts that broke off when I was trying to get them out, and on the inside where those cast bosses into which the machine screws to hold the tank to the radiator go several were rusted through. Got the second (later) core cleaned up only to find a leak in it a few inches down and a few inches in from the right edge. The original radiator is round "tubular" construction, while the second one has those flattened oval tubes. What do I do now? I can try to get the original one cleaned up, but how to test it for leaks. How much for a new core? Help help!

Steve

My crossmotor tank had similar damage, I put a gob of aviation permatex on the bolts when I put them back in. I'd use the round tube core, any reputable radiator shop should be able to fix either one if not rotten.

Steve, You can get just about any radiator made that you want if you go to the right source. There is a place in Dallas that makes them for Alvin's radiator in Borger, Texas. That is where I get my Case LA radiators and perhaps there is someone near you who can buy from the Dallas manufacturer. The old radiator tubes had a seam running full length but the new radiators have seamless tubes. Expensive but worth the money and no more leaks. Tractor looks good so far.---Derrol in Texas---
