hey guys. got a problem. i found a factory made (yes factory eagle symble and part number) turbo manifold for my 1030 diesal and has 140 hours on the new overhaul. it runs real good, but i cant keep up with the fellows in the 12500lbs 3000rpm limit class. no speed limit and i have to run 3rd or 4th gear low range. she just cant keep up, but i would like to still farm with it and would like to run the very edge of farm-able and not. any sugestions to help would be much appreciated. please help me. |

| Forgot to add this to my last post thank you for the compliment casecollectorsc! The old girl is usually a top puller around here, I'll try to post more pics of our toys soon. |

| The only way to compete in a pull with any of the modified "stock" tractors with a 30 series is to swap engines. You can put 70 series heads on a 30 series but a couple studs are off and the injectors are on the other side. I would go find a 1370 with a blown rear end and swap the 504 in. Much less BS, machine work and $$$. |

| If you are running against turbo tractors I'm going to agree with 1031D put a 504 in and have fun a 504 will go well over 300hp with all stock parts. The swap would require switching the throttle linkage to the other side and cutting a steering shaft hole in the front of the block. To swap over to the direct injection heads will require direct injection pistons, injection lines to crossover to the other side of the block, and associated manifolds etc. You will leave out 1 head bolt with this swap if i remember right. If you opt to swap heads port work and a good cam are money well spent. I do my own port work so it costs me nothing but time and research, but little bit of money for a cam is the best money you will spend, in my opinion. |

| | Like 1030D says, the cross port fuel injection does not lend itself to turbo charging and significant increase in HP. I think I have seen a 30 series with 70 series direct injection heads. I'm a Case guy but you have a tall order to out power a 466 IH. I researched why the IH responds to turning up the power so well and I think the reason is turbo size. The IH has a larger turbo than my 70 series Case. If you are into hardware change, sneak in an IH size turbo. |

| You could put the manifold on the tractor but the gains won't be huge. If you have the time and money port work on the heads, a cam from bullet, and some good pump work will give good gains, it did on my 930. My 930 with the work i stated above and 2800 rpm in the 9000lb farm and low 3rd is a strong tractor, it also runs dry 23.1 34s. If it had 18.4s it would probably run in high 1 or 2. Here's a pic from this year after the pump work. |

| Take the manifold and put it up on a shelf. If you turbo those you will be lucky to gain 10-15hp. Power cell engines do not like turbulence, which a turbo is full of. It is most likely a manifold from a 1200TK. 1030's never came new with a turbo. 1200's did, but with different designed heads to compensate. Show us a picture. I'm not doubting it's factory but it's not 1030. I've seen some factory manifolds cut off at the outlet and a turbo flange welded on. I pull 9500-14,500 with mine. Pump is turned up, governor is up 200 rpm. Will pull 6 bottoms in 3rd all day. I run 3rd in 9500# and 1-2 in 14,500 depending on how hard the track is. My 1030's rotating assembly in factory original with 9000+ hours on it and it still makes all the 4020's cry. What do you mean by can't keep up? Loose traction or power? If traction put 23.1-30's on the back, if power go down a gear. Put fluid in your tires. I'm running 18.4-34's dry to squeeze into 9500.
