i am going to a auction tomarrow and they have a case 400 roundnose on it. i am very interested in the bill said that it did not run but dont think its stuck it has very good metal and exc. tires what should i expect it to bring. Am i dumb for thinking i could pick it up for $500 to $600

paid $800 for a loose not running diesel with junk rims and tires, narrow front and manual steering and some other parts missing/damaged. I would expect $1000-1500 if a diesel.

auctions can go either way. It may be you and the junkman or you the junkman and some others. At any rate that tractor goes about 5500 lbs. so be ready to out bid the junker. I priced new tires for mine this spring ,about 450 each so figure that in to your "final" bid. I really like my 400"s, diesel and gas gobble

I gave $800 for one with stuck engine. Sheet metal was good rear tires were shot.

Bought one two years ago for $1000.00. Did not run. Bad tires. Good rims and sheet metal. Stripped off what I needed and sold it for $625.00.

You better plan on a litte extra $$ Scrap is on a up swing as of the other day/one place around here is paying 180 for long steel [Tractors-Combines-other Farm Equipment-Construction Stuff ]The junk guys will be there,hedge rows are getting Very Thin .Dont want you to luse out on it over a few $$
