Hey Guys, I got the hub off finally!!!! Whew wee...it was tough. Here is what I did. I got two oak boards about 2 inches thick. Placed one under the hub, lowered the tractor until the hub rested on the oak board. Then took the other oak board and laid it on the axle. Then hit with the BFH and it popped off. Soaking with Kroil definitely helped. Now, next issue, the key stayed in the axle groove. I have started soaking it and hitting with BFH and punch with no luck so far. It has not moved one bit. I guess my best option is to contnue the same? See attached picture.thx |

| May be overkill on my part but after I got the hubs freed on my VAC I replaced the bolts with Stainless steel ones from McMaster and slathered the axle and key way with Permatex never seize. |

| Atta boy!!!! If you got the 4 pieces of bolt out of the caps, without breaking a corner off the caps, you did better'n me! It seems there's a thin corner on those caps. |

| Wasn't that a great feeling when you swong that BFH the last time and the wheel poped loose? You gotta love the challenges of restoring old tractors. |

| | Use a sharp thin chisel and drive it under the key. It will come out. Fortunately, you still have the dowel to fit into the hub to locate the key. Clean out the keyway and file the key so it slides freely in the keyway. It has to move freely when you change wheel spacing... Gene |
