does anyone know how to slide the rear wheels in on a 1980 case 2290 I bought the tractor a few months ago and the wheels are all the way out at the the end of the axles, also I have 98 inch bar axles with 20.8 x 38 tires can I put duals on my tractor with these tires and axles because I have found some duals and hubs off a 2090 case locally. |

| Gary, Those hubs are tapered into the wheels and must be loosened by removing the 6 bolts, cleaning the threaded holes and using 3 of the bolts to push the hub loose from the wheel. It can be a struggle. Just keep alternately tightening them and usually they will come loose. You will need 3/4 drive stuff. After the wheel comes loose move it to where you want it, clean up the axle and keyway, drive a big chisel or drift into the split on the wedge to spread it a bit and move it to where you need it. The key is supposed to be pinned to the wedge and You may have to pull the wedge off to get everything clean enough for it to slide easily. HTH. mEl |
